Flora Digitala

Commelina communis L. - front - b

Macoto Murayama cultivates inorganic flora. First, he chooses the plant and finds the real flower. Second, he dissects the flower cutting the petal and ovary with scalpel and observes it with magnifying glass. Third, he makes sketches and photographs the parts of dissected flower. Forth, he models its form and structure using 3D software. Fifth, he renders separate parts and creates a composition using Photoshop. Sixth, he imposes admeasurements, parts names, scale, scientific name, etc.

Here it is, The Flower of Totalitarian Scientific Conscious: properly fixed, totally measured, strictly nominated and distinctly shown. It is not only an image of a plant, but representation of the intellect’s power and its elaborate tools for scrutinizing nature. The transparency of this work refers not only to the lucid petals of a flower, but to the ambitious, romantic and utopian struggle of science to see and present the world as transparent (completely seen, entirely grasped) object. Paradoxically, this scientific challenge to measure the Universe might eventually become one of the sources where art of Murayama draws its strength of fantasy and odor of romanticism, becoming a part of Botech Art, symbiosis of Botanical Art and Technology. Ni dieu ni maitre

In 1880 French libertarian socialist Louis-Auguste Blanqui entitled an anarchist newspaper Ni dieu ni maitre. The term has become then the anarchist movement motto.

Portrait of Louis-Auguste Blanqui by Antoine Joseph Wiertz, Belgian romantic painter and sculptor.

Sitôt que l'esprit humain cesse de comprendre, il dit Dieu.
Soon as the human mind stop understanding, it says God.

Most anarchists agree on a slogan to define their ideology, Ni dieu ni maitre (Neither God nor Master). The phrase does not insult the spiritual beliefs of individuals or groups but rather the need to fight all those who use religion to control the thinking and actions of believers and nonbelievers. Similarly, do not obey a master does not mean ignoring the diagnosis of a doctor when he says there is a disease, but rather the refusal of any physical or mental coercion from an illegitimate authority whatsoever. The state police and the owners do not simply inform us of a situation and then leave us to decide for ourselves what choices we prefer. They force us under the threat of violence and hunger. They force us to serve them, obey them and die in wars they created.

-- Excerpt from Common Cause # 9, Newspaper of NEFAC (Federation of Libertarian Communists Northeast) Quebec, Canada

Google helped me to translate this (just a little bit gnangnan) definition of the motto from Encyclopédie des expressions

One of the most recognizable and irreverent French comic book artists, Reiser, also liked the phrase. Smiley.

Happy people make me shit!

First I hand embroidered the four words.

The dark side of the felt reveals a strange coded language I don't understand.

Then I reduced the slogan into tattoo style parchment flags.

Needed supplies: cotton stuffing, thread, felt and my smiling (why not) cardboard heart shaped template.

Almost done.

Ok, now we've got a reversible anarchist miniature felt heart ornament plush, aaahh.

Thank you for your interest in my work.

Through martial mutant creatures, cold geometric structures and black and red color palette, Alan Brown (medusawolf) magnifies watercolor.

Being a monster can stink. Roaming the lonely wastes of a weird planet would set me into a bad mood too.

I grew up near the woods & discovered the world was a weird mystery. I learned I loved to draw. Years later, I went to Delaware College of Art & Design where I learned I loved to paint. Today I draw & paint the weirdness the world makes me see inside.

Alan Brown is living in Bear, USA. His artistic superhero alter ego is called medusawolf.

Bird body language

Influenced by the Flemish masters' technique, French painter Corine Perier creates surreal desolate landscapes on wood panels, presented here through a theme: bird body hybrid animals.

 Aux portes du désert

 Boule de neige

 Dans les nuages

 Le gardien

 Le petit prince

 Le sphinx

 Le coureur du ciel

 Le funambule

 Le gardien des cîmes

 Le gardien du secret

 L'enchanteur

 Le voyageur

 Perce-neige

 Sérénité

 Tombé du ciel

Chat perché

Corine Perier's paintings depict surreal animals in depopulated landscapes. Through her paintings, she deals with the contemporary problem of the disappearance of species on a planet in flux. She adds a touch of strangeness to her works, painting a dream world where fantasies and child dreams live together.

Birds, wildcats... it's a wildlife crossing, regardless of the laws of natural history, but with the greatest natural... (Read more.)

Often juxtaposing the hunter and hunted within one body or linking species that, in the real life, would never be seen united. Her strange world is one where the extinction of one species, leads to odd mutations of the remaining ones. It’s a reminder to the viewer that the real world is altering beyond recognition and of the existing predicament of vanishing species on this ever changing planet.

From foxes wearing armour to birds with cat heads, this surreal world offers a vision of an unbalanced world. A world in which the edges of reality, dreams and concepts are blurred together but also a place to appreciate the inherent beauty of a delicious mystery. (Read more.)
