Wallflower

William Morris (1834 – 1896): English textile designer, artist, writer and libertarian socialist associated with the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and the English Arts and Crafts Movement

Botanical patterns and quotes by William Morris.

There was a knight came riding by
In early spring, when the roads were dry;
And he heard that lady sing at the noon,
Two red roses across the moon.

It took me years to understand that words are often as important as experience, because words make experience last.

The true secret of happiness lies in taking a genuine interest in all the details of daily life.

I know a little garden close
Set thick with lily and red rose,
Where I would wander if I might
From dewy dawn to dewy night.
And have one with me wandering.

The reward of labour is life. Is that not enough?

Give me love and work – these two only.

Sweet visual voyage here. Thank you to captain Morris.

Erysimum cheiri (Aegean wallflower) flowers by Dave Kennard (2012) (link)

That wallflower is actually one of the most interesting people I've ever met.
